Denise Primus studied law at the University of Heidelberg with a focus on tax law and Anglo-American law. She completed her legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf. From 2013, during her studies and legal clerkship, Ms. Primus worked as a research assistant focusing on banking and capital markets law as well as contract law at schlatter.law.

Since 2017, Denise Primus has been a lawyer at schlatter.law, focusing on banking and capital markets law, IT law and data protection, and contract and general terms and conditions law. 

In the area of IT law and data protection, Ms. Primus advises in particular companies that purchase software or have software developed, as well as SME software developers in contract negotiations. Her work focuses on the drafting and negotiation of software use/development contracts, including licensing issues, as well as the drafting of terms of use for websites/customer portals and general terms and conditions for online stores and web design contracts. Data protection issues (including privacy by design and default) are always covered by Ms. Primus. Ms. Primus also represents the interests of her clients in legal disputes, e.g. in the defense or enforcement of claims arising from software development/use contracts or service or work contracts in web design.

In the area of data protection law, Ms. Primus supports her clients in all matters relating to the drafting of contracts (order processing; standard contractual clauses; Binding Corporate Rules), as well as in communication and representation in official and court proceedings.

In the area of compliance, Attorney Primus advises companies and entrepreneurs in particular on issues and processes relating to anti money laundering law, as well as on issues relating to the development of compliance structures in the area of data protection and whistleblowing, compliance with reporting obligations to the transparency register, and in sales and marketing, in particular issues relating to data protection law, UWG law and use/licensing law.

In the area of banking and capital markets law, Ms. Primus is particularly active in the areas of equity investments, prospectus liability and asset management. Ms. Primus assists financial service providers and payment institutions in particular in regulatory approval procedures as well as in the drafting of contracts. Ms. Primus represents financial service providers and payment institutions throughout Germany in defending claims for damages in court proceedings.
