After graduation and his clerkship in Heidelberg, Hanns-Uwe Richter worked as scientific assistant at the Institute for Public Finance and tax law at Heidelberg University and completed his doctorate under Reinhard Mußgnug. After having worked as syndicus for large industrial companies in Frankfurt and Heidelberg, he joined the law firm in 1996.

Hanns-Uwe Richter has also been a lecturer at the University of Heidelberg in the field of labor law and mediation for many years.
In the field of sports law, Hanns-Uwe Richter advises associations and professional athletes. Based on his activities as consultant and author of publications in the field of sports law, he received a lectureship in sports labor law at the SRH University Heidelberg.
Furthermore, Hanns-Uwe Richter has been associate professor for labor law at Heidelberg University for many years.
